Colleen McDowell, PhD is establishing her research lab in the Medical Sciences Center to study molecular pathways involved in the development of elevated intraocular pressure and glaucomatous trabecular meshwork damage. Dr. McDowell received her PhD in molecular physiology and biophysics from the University of Iowa. She completed her post-doctoral work at the North Texas Eye Research Institute in Forth Worth, Texas, where she developed an inducible model of ocular hypertension using viral vectors. Dr. McDowell was retained as a faculty member at the North Texas Eye Research Institute at the University of North Texas Health Science Center for nine years, where she was promoted to assistant professor.
